Our mascot's name is French. She is called Chloë. She is an Amphiprion Percula, better known as 'True clownfish'.

Worldwide, there are 28 species of anemonefish, of which the clownfish are a subset. They are called anemonefish, as they live in a symbiosis with sea anemones. Individual clownfishes live their lives each in one anemone only.

Clownfish are small, yet very brave. They have been known to attack and try to bite divers, even though they themselves are only about 2 to 4 inches long.

[1] Please note that on these photos, A. Ocellaris, the socalled 'False clownfish', is predominant. The A. Percula and A. Ocellaris differ only little in their appeareance: A. percula has wider black bands around the white stripes and 11 or rarely 10 dorsal spines, whereas A. Ocellaris has ten, rarely nine dorsal spines. Percula is higher, Ocellaris may be slightly longer. The main distinguishing feature however is geographic distribution. A. Percula lives in Northern Queensland and in the archipelagos of Melanesia (New Guinea, New Britain, New Ireland, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu) - while A. Ocellaris is at home on the Andaman and Nicobar Islands (Andaman Sea), the Indo-Malayan Archipelago, the Philippines and northwestern Australia; plus the coast of Southeast Asia northwards to the Ryukyu Islands.
